**South Broward High School** is a Maritime/Marine Science STEM Magnet Program. Several magnet STEM progressions are offered including Maritime Technology, Geospatial Information Science (GIS), and Outdoor Marine Service Technology. Their Innovative Programs include Cambridge Marine Environmental/Computer Science, Global Logistics/Supply (GLS) and LEEO (Linked Education & Employment Outcomes). With the exception of the Cambridge, all of the Maritime STEM Magnet successions are CAPE Academies that offer Industry adopted certification exams. As a LEEO Innovative Program, we have tied our business initiatives to our Global Logistics/Supply (GLS), Maritime Technology (MT) and Geospatial Information Science (GIS) classes

**Job Description: Maritime Technology Teacher**

**Responsibilities:**

This job description is for a Maritime Technology teacher position, directly under and in support of the Principal of South Broward High School. This station is designed for a professional educator (reading endorsed or NGCAR-PD and Industry Certified) to teach qualified students a sequence (Maritime Technology I-IV) of courses that provide coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Engineering and Technology Education in a Maritime career cluster and leads to industry certification. Primary role would be to teach students an understanding of the field of maritime studies and prepares for postsecondary programs, as well as the world of work, by developing an in-depth mastery of maritime industry related concepts and their relationship to the business of shipping. The course also includes various concepts of history, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, as well as social and political implications of the maritime industry on the international scale.

**Job/Educational Prerequisites:**

Teach entry-level skills for the Maritime Industry. Have previous industry training combined with laboratory experiences. Come with a full understanding of workplace safety and organization, of the field of maritime studies and postsecondary programs, as well as the world of work, by developing an in-depth mastery of maritime industry related concepts and their relationship to the business of shipping. Also includes various concepts of history, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, as well as social and political implications of the maritime industry on the international scale. Foster student enrollment and engagement which may result in articulated college credit if state approved industry certification is attained by student. Transition students with skills that promote college/career readiness. Ensure that students are engaging in career pathways that will result in achievement in workforce and/or postsecondary opportunities. Ensure students gain work ready skills that are needed by industry. Apply critical thinking, problem solving, and collaborative team skills needed to be successful in both college and career. Foster student competitions, scholarships, internship experience, soft skills, and business/college partnerships that will provide opportunities to students.
FDOE Certification in Technology Education and/or Seamanship

Salary/Benefit Information:

Commensurate with experience. General range $40,000 -$80,000. PTO including vacation, holidays, sick time. Medical/Dental/Vision/Life/Long Term Care/Disability Insurance.

**Job Description: Outboard Marine Service Technology Teacher**

Responsibilities: This job description is for an Outboard Marine Service Technology teacher position, directly under and in support of the Principal of South Broward High School. This station is designed for a professional educator to teach qualified students a sequence (Outboard Marine I-VII) of courses that provide coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Transportation, Distribution and Logistics career cluster; provide technical skill proficiency, and include competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Transportation, Distribution and Logistics career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to the following: service, repair and overhaul of four-stroke and two-stroke cycle engines and outboard motors; and service and repair of boating accessories. With regard to the above, course content will include electrical systems, fuel systems, power transfer systems, ignition systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, drive systems and boat and trailer rigging. The course content should also include training in communication, leadership, human relations and employability skills; and safe, efficient work practices.

Job/Educational Prerequisites:

Teach entry-level skills for the outboard marine service industry. Have previous industry training combined with laboratory experiences. Come with a full understanding of workplace safety and organization, trailer service, various boat materials, 2-stroke cycle outboard engines, and fuel systems on boats.
FDOE Certification in Diesel Mechanics and/or Gas/Engine Repair
