My name is Matt Peterson and I have been around boats most of my life, as a commercial fisherman working for my father, a sailboat and powerboat owner and as a member of the maintenance team at the Olympic Circle Sailing Club (now OCSC Sailing) in Berkeley, CA. In 1994 I formed FastBottoms Hull Diving (now part of Peterson Marine Services, LLC.) In the 17 years since then I have personally performed over 20,000 hull cleanings as well as zinc replacements, propeller removal and installations, object retrievals, rudder removals, boat unsinkings, dock flotation projects etc., etc., etc. Owning my own business has been very rewarding and I like what I do very much. Further, I think I am very good at it. In an industry rife with unskilled and unknowledgeable service providers, I take my job seriously and approach it as a profession. I believe this is why FastBottoms Hull Diving is amongst the most well-known and respected names in the hull cleaning industry here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I am also a member of the California Professional Divers Association and sit on its Board of Directors. The CPDA is a non-profit mutual benefit corporation registered in California that actively promotes in-water hull cleaning Best Management Practices and the use of non-copper and biocide-free hull coatings. I have been trained and certified in the use of these BMPs (the only ones recognized by the state of California) and use them every day to ensure that I minimize my impact on the environment when performing in-water hull cleaning activities and maximize the performance and longevity of my customer anti fouling paint.
