The Shannon 43 “Tinker” was built by Shannon Boat Company in Bristol, RI, for the family of a Midwestern industrialist with no expense spared, and was our Annapolis Show Boat. The double-head ketch rig and keel centerboard hull provide the ultimate versatility for sailing in safety and comfort with good speed in all sea and wind conditions anywhere and everywhere on the globe. The legendary bullet-proof Shannon building techniques including composite core hull and deck construction insure that “Tinker”should last several lifetimes. Over the years, “Tinker has been lightly used primarily on the Great Lakes. As the wear and tear of one years’ use in Florida equals ten years on the Great Lakes, “Tinker presents like almost new. Classic Herreshoff interior with white laminate bulkheads and varnished teak trim, with a solid teak and holly (not plywood) cabin sole. The current owner has done significant recent upgrades preparing for long distance cruising before a change of circumstances forced the sale of “Tinker.” Owning a Shannon like “Tinker” is a little like owning Downton Abby, as the next owners will find themselves to be stewards of S43#32, and they will use and love this classic offshore ocean cruiser for the time allotted them.
